Vantage Point

Have you ever experienced everything going right and wrong at the same time? How do you celebrate one area of your life while dealing with pain in another? In Scripture, Matthew 13 gives us a parable that discusses what to do when your Wheat ( harvest) & your Tare (yield/waste) spring up at the same time. It tells us to be careful of focusing so hard on the Tare, that we expend all of our energy trying to remove it, and lose the Wheat in the process.

The picture I posted is one of me on the edge of a cliff, staring at the mountains and the trees. I had been experiencing my own Wheat & Tare moment and needed to clear my head. Sometimes you need to sit above your wins and your losses, in a neutral space where nothing is more important than the nature of being still and at peace. In that place, you see what is important to focus on and what is not.

You will be able to strategize and not be impulsive so that when you deal with the Tares in your life, it doesn't consume or overwhelm you, allowing you to enjoy your wins simultaneously.  Live long enough and you will see that time does not discriminate or wait until it suits you. You have to get to a good vantage point, away from it all, to get the bigger picture. For me, the mountain was it, for you, it may be in your car, at the park, or sitting in front of the ocean.

No one likes to feel uncomfortable, so we want to ease whatever is bothering us immediately so we can get to celebrating. Today, if you are experiencing the best of times and the not-so-best of times, all at the same time, I encourage you to find a good vantage point and look at the situation from a bird's eye view. Take your time to respond, and don't lose sight of what is good in your life.

Peace  & Blessings to you,

JL Domond
