It's Bigger Than You & Me

October 2025 marked a moment I had been waiting for since childhood, I finally checked the Grand Canyon off my bucket list. Yet the image you see here isn’t from that iconic overlook. It was taken during a stop at Antelope Canyon, and in many ways, it left an even deeper impression. The God-created landscapes—the curves, crevices, and radiant colors were breathtaking. Antelope Canyon, located on the Navajo Nation Reservation in Arizona, can only be visited with an authorized Navajo guide. This sacred land is protected and honored, and you can feel that reverence the moment you step inside. I took countless photos, but I chose this one because it captures something deeper: the vulnerability of humanity and the wonder of nature. Standing there, I was overwhelmed and reflective.

God’s Beauty, Inside and Out

Being in that space reminded me of how amazing God is and how small we are in comparison to God's creation. Sometimes we get so caught up in ourselves that it takes nature to humble and ground us. It creates space to see God in everything, including ourselves. Like the Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon isn’t man-made. Wind, sand, earth, and water carved this geological formation into a masterpiece people travel near and far to experience. And it made me think—if inanimate elements can be shaped into something this beautiful on the inside, imagine the beauty God has carved inside of you…inside of me. We hold treasures within us, gifts waiting to be explored and revealed, and just like this canyon, the tour can only be guided by us. You are sacred space. Your native land—your heart, your purpose, your story—is meant to be protected. The Navajo people could have closed this place off entirely, but instead they chose to share it, understanding its value and the perspective-changing experience it offers. So I ask you: Do you recognize the value in what God has placed within you? Are you willing to share your gifts with others? If God can create something so magnificent from the elements of life, imagine what God can do with a creation of life.

Don’t Miss the Beauty Along the Way

It also reminded me of the danger of missing the beauty along the way. The Grand Canyon was the goal—something I’d dreamed of seeing since I was a little girl. Antelope Canyon wasn’t even on my radar until recently; it was simply added to the tour. I wasn’t as invested in seeing it, but once I arrived, everything changed. While these two places shouldn’t be compared, I left feeling more moved by Antelope Canyon—not because one was better than the other, but because it stirred something unexpected in me. As we move through life, it’s easy to become so focused on the destination that we miss the sacred moments unfolding along the way. I’ve always heard the saying, “The journey is more beautiful than the destination", and the more I travel, the more truth I find in it.

A Final Reflection

I implore you: Use your gifts to amplify, elevate, and cultivate your purpose. We are all here for something greater than ourselves. And don’t discount the value of the experiences you gain along the way—they are shaping you, preparing you, and revealing beauty you didn’t even know to look for.

Peace & Blessings,
JL Domond
